Our History

SADCO, Inc. was founded by H.F. "Jim'' Levy in 1953 as a PhilcoAppliance distributorship covering the southern half of Alabama. in the late 1950's, we began to carry philco TV's. When Philco was bought by Ford Motor Company in the late 1950's, we decided that it was not prudent to have all of our eggs in the Ford basket. At that time, we diversified into the distribution of residental furniture. We've been in that business ever since carrying such lines as Broyhill, Thomasville, Lane and Ashley.

Presently we carry over twenty -five different lines of furniture.

In 1973, SADCO was named as Sony distributors for the state of Alabama. We pioneered such products as the Betmax VCR and the Walkman cassette player. We increased sales and market share for all nine years we had Sony until they decided to leave wholesale distrubution.

Philco, under the Ford guidance, began to drop appliance categories during the 1960's. In 1975, Philco notified its distributors that it would close its last appliance factory manufacturing refrigerators. At that time, H. F. Levy along with four other distributor principals from around the country formed the Crosley group. Crosley is an appliance company sourcing goods from various manufacturers. Since 1976, Crosley has sourced product from Admiral, Magic Chef, Maytag, Whirlpool, and Electrolux. H.F. Levy was the corporate secretary for Crosley for the first 20 years of its existence. Russell Levy has been a board member, corporate treasurer, and corporate secretary for the last eleven years. Crosley board members set the direction of the company and work with the sourcing manufacturers to establish the product and fatures to be offered.

Currently, we have two sales representatives traveling the territory and one dedicated inside sales person. They all sell our Crosley Appliances, Sealy Bedding, and approximatley 25 lines of furniture.

We have our own trucks and offer rapid delivery to our dealers. All products may be mixed for delivery.
